Kick Off Summer on the Chain O’Lakes with These Fun Activities!
The summer may be winding down but the parties are not! The Chain O’Lakes has so many fun events planned for August and September you won’t know what to do with yourself! Get your boat ready and Captain Rod’s will give you a little tour of summer events on the Chain O’Lakes!
Blarney Island Boat Races
An all-time favorite on the Chain O’Lakes is drag boat racing! The races are held every Thursday evening from Memorial Day to Labor Day. If you missed them in the past, there is still time to get your boat ready!
The race course is 800 feet long and is located on the open lake.

Deck out your boats and get your best tropical wear ready for this one. This celebration has a Jimmy Buffet-inspired “Its 5 O’clock Somewhere” theme and Margarita-Ville decorations to celebrate our very own Fox Lake.
Judges score boats on lighting, creativity, costumes, and decorations. The first place winner will win $500, with second place taking home $300 and third place $200.
There will be a parade on the water at 7:30 pm which starts at Famous Freddie’s Roadhouse on Pistakee Lake and ends at the Dockers Restaurant & Lounge.
There will be a live DJ and tons of food and beverages available until midnight.
Don’t forget to watch the fireworks blast off at dusk over Pistakee Lake.

Fantasy Fest Weekend @ Blarney Island
This fest is off the chain with Blarney Island’s ABC (anything but clothes) costume party. Get ready to be creative!
They’ll provide creative body painting all day. You can even come early and use body paint as your costume!

Land and Lake Days Featuring Tattoo Festival & the 19th Annual Cardboard Boat Race
This exciting three-day event in Fox Lake really brings the water lovers and land lovers together in one big bash.
Feel like getting a new piercing or tattoo? Maybe you want to get some festive body painting done and then check out the boat and car show. There’s something for everyone here!
Friday kicks off the event with food and beverage vendors and onsite catering. There will be a talent show from 6 pm to 8 pm – so bring all you got! (To get scheduled contact Amy Serafin at serafina@foxlake.org or call 847-587-3944).
Wind down your first night with the “movie by the lake”. The movie will be “Jaws”, which you can view from the lawn, car, or boat.
Saturday, get your body paint on with on-site professionals from 10 am until 8 pm.
Sunday will be the 19th annual cardboard boat race at noon. Registration is $30 and you will be given a kit and time to build your boat on-site.
Afterwards, kick back, socialize, or get your body painted if you missed the previous day!

10 Year Chopper Fest Anniversary
Get your chopper ready to help celebrate this 10 Year chopper fest anniversary at the baddest bar on the beach!
There will be a savory and smoky pig roast and the classic corn on the cob feast with activities to follow.
Make sure you don’t forget your wallet at home for this one as there will be many vendors selling leather and jewelry to get your chopper look together!
